Dressing with Purpose

The book entitled Dressing with Purpose: Belonging and Resistance in Scandinavia contains a chapter entitled 'Headdress and Hijab: Bunad in Multicultural Norway' written by Camilla Rossing. The book has received awards, and is one of only a few sources of information on the bunad and the history of the bunad in English. Costume traditions in Norway, Sweden and Sápmi and their evolution are explored in a collection of articles.

The book came about in connection with the exhibition with the same name which until recently was staged at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe in the United States. You can read more about the exhibition here.
