The book entitled Kvinner i bunadshistoria is finally available in shops.
Kvinner i bunadshistoria [Women in bunad history] is published by Forlaget Press, designed by Snøhetta and written by Camilla Rossing, Ragni Engstrøm Nilsen and Solveig Strand, all of whom work at the Norwegian Institute of Bunad and Folk Costume. The starting point for the book is the Norwegian Institute of Bunad and Folk Costume's permanent exhibition, Fyrstedamer i bunad [Leading Ladies in Bunads], which opened in April 2021.
The book features 10 women who have influenced the history of the bunad and made significant contributions to the widespread use of the bunad as we know it today. Each of them has her own chapter, where one can read about her personal history as well as her place in Norwegian cultural history. The reader is introduced to Queen Maud, Hulda Garborg, Karoline Grude, Klara Semb, Gunvor Ingstad Trætteberg, Anna Grostøl, Marta Hoffmann, Aagot Noss, Magny Karlberg and Queen Sonja.
The book is now available from bookshops and book clubs in Norway. Copies can also be obtained directly from the Norwegian Institute of Bunad and Folk Costume.
